You mean one object, but with lots of pieces on it, right? Why, yes, yes
there is.
Go into Polygon selection mode. Hit "w" (which is Display Menu/Stats).
You get a neat little list of every polygon in your object. the most
important items on this list are:
1 Point Polygons (1 Vetrex): Hit the + next to this, and all 1 point
polygons are slected. Good idea to check for these to avoid little dots
appearing at the corners of your object.
2 Point Polygons (2 Vetrex): Hit the + next to this, and all 2 point
polygons are slected. Good idea to check for these to avoid lines
appearing on the edges of your object.
Non-Planar polygons: Hitting the + next to this selects all polygons
that are nonplanar. A polygon is determined non-planar based on the
Flatness level set in the Objects/Options panel.
Polygons with surface: Pushing the + next to this selects every polygon
mathcing the Surface Name in the pop-up requester below.
